SisDee is an unknown superstar, an urban legend, shaped by sound systems, jazz clubs, transformative journeys, chance encounters, and serendipity. A perpetual student, a crossover artist at heart, she is a passionate self-taught artist; she constantly strives to learn, explore, and create. Her approach is based as much on her personal artistic expression as on sharing, mentoring, and entrepreneurship. Born in Montmartre, SisDee is an independent artist with an extraordinary career, at the crossroads of jazz, soul, reggae, hip-hop, and spoken word. Since the 1980s, she has moved forward as a free spirit, driven by music, travel, encounters, and a constant quest for creation and sharing. A passionate self-taught artist and perpetual student, she began in the streets and metro of Paris with Afro-Cuban percussion, before singing in Parisian piano bars and jazz clubs. In the late 1980s, her encounter with reggae profoundly transformed her artistic world. In 1992, her first trip to Jamaica proved to be a revelation. Upon returning to France, she founded the Sound Sisters, an all-female sound system that has become a cult favorite in the Parisian reggae scene. Rejecting labels and trends, SisDee forged her own path through choirs, jam sessions, concerts, collaborations, and travel. Over the years, she has performed in legendary venues such as the New Morning, the Bataclan, Le Duc des Lombards, the Élysée Montmartre, and the Stade de France. She has also performed around the world: Great Britain, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Germany, Cape Verde, Turkey, and more. Her journey has intersected with those of artists such as Kery James, Les Nubians, Keziah Jones, Bernard Lavilliers, China Moses, and Junior Reid. In 2013, she was crowned Zulu Queen by Afrika Bambaataa's Universal Zulu Nation. Alongside her performing career, SisDee has developed a strong commitment to teaching and sharing her artistic vision. She has created several choirs, workshops, and vocal coaching programs, including the Swing & Soul Workshop, the Afro-European Factory, and the renowned We ❤️ Jam nights, which have become essential events on the Parisian music scene. In 2008, a neurological illness dramatically altered her path. After several years of battling the disease, she embarked on a profound inner journey that led her to India, where she discovered yoga, meditation, ashrams, and a new philosophy of life. She then became a yoga teacher while continuing her artistic and educational projects. During the pandemic, she began teaching French online to students around the world, transforming her laptop into a mobile studio and nomadic office. After several years spent between Asia, France, and South America, SisDee finally settled in Kingston in 2022. There, she naturally rediscovered the energy of sound systems and open mics, self-produced her music, and developed her unique artistic universe: Jazzamufin. In 2024, she received official recognition from the Jamaican government with a work permit as a self-produced independent artist—a first for a Francophone female artist. Today, SisDee divides her time between music, teaching, travel, and creating, with the firm belief that the best is yet to come.
